When All Else Fails....there's TV

Okay, so nothing remotely fun or interesting happened today...but this blogging is addictive and I don't want to lose any of my few followers, so I decided to fall back on something I can ALWAYS talk about...TV!! I decided to talk about the new shows this year. Ones you SHOULD be watching, and ones that I think, you should wave goodbye to now, before you get too attached. I am pretty good at this people. I SO called Journeyman and a few lame sitcoms last year. It's a twisted gift! Please read ON!

Okay, so what shows are so cool, you SHOULD be watching? First let's start with the BEST so far, and that is FRINGE. It is SO good, and JJ Abrams created it, all you fellow LOST fanatics!! The characters are very entertaining, crazy Walter the genius is hilarious, but is grounded by his genius son Peter, who is pessimistic that all these "things" can possibly be real. Am I going to tell you what the "things" are so far? NO! That's why you need to give it a shot. And J.J. has created another kick-butt female in Agent Olivia Dunham, new to this world of "oddities", we see things through her experiences. And she kicks....uhhh...booty!!

Another must-see this season, is The Mentalist. First of all, HOT male actor...but it also makes you really think. Can you really see so much about people the way he does...just by reading body language, etc? I thought it was a serious rip-off of Psych...which I don't bother to watch...but this is GOOD. He was a con-man until a real live serial killer stalked him and murdered his family. Now he uses his "powers" to help out a team of FBI agents...al the while still hunting the man who destroyed his life. Give it an episode, I swear you will be good and hooked. Here is also a quick reality show plug, The Rachel Zoe Project...the drama...is BANANAS!! Her two assistants loathing each other is priceless!

Okay...90210...I was a follower of the original, so I gave it a chance. And I like SOME of the story...a little TMI in that first episode...but they got a lot of flack for it, so hopefully it will stop. I say, watch it while it lasts. I really LOVE some of the characters, but I am having my doubts on their numbers staying strong...especially against NCIS and HOUSE!! So, I say, live the old glory, while you can!! And let's get these actresses some FOOD money...they seriously need the caloric intake!!

I watched The Eleventh Hour, I had taped it, last night. And Rufus Sewell is very convincing as Dr. Hood, a brilliant, but a lil off, specialist in odd science. The first episode, in my opinion, was COOL. Sad, with 19 failed clone attempts of a human boy, but the mystery surrounding it, and the mastermind, Gipetto, still on the loose....this has serious potential!! And Marley Shelton as his tough as nails FBI "glorified babysitter/protector" is really good! I KNOW! Who knew she could act?!

And since they had only half a season, I am counting them as new, but MUST SEE IMMEDIATELY!! Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money are fabulous!! Daisies is so whimsical and magical...and the cast is stellar! Lee Pace alone is amazing, let's not forget that every other main character is fascinating! Okay Chi McBride's Cod is a little...odd, but he is the reason Ned investigates the dead...LOL, I rhymed!! And Money is so full of twists and turns...the family from hell...in the spotlight!! What's not to like?

Last night I also got through the first episode of The Ex List (yes I AM behind!) and loved it! it was hilarious! Sure the girl friends' "wax job" and "toupee for down there" was a lil TMI, but I laughed anyway. And the song sung by not Mr. Right at the end, had me in tears, it was so funny. Eric Balfour was GOOD, as not Mr. Right, I can't wait to see all the other Mr. Wrong's...hopefully they don't have to end in such a humiliating way as Eric's though. Or POOR Bella!!

And while I haven't seen the premiere episode yet, it was LAST night okay! My Own Worst Enemy...unless it ends up being SO very lame, is one I will watch. Hello, Christian Slater!!! I have had a C.S. crush since Pump Up the Volume and Heathers!!

And Here are some that will premiere in 2009 that I have my eye on. The biggest one I am excited about is DollHouse! Joss Whedon is (except for that stupid space cowboy show that took away my DARK ANGEL) a genius!! Hello, my name is Wendy, and I am a Buffy and Angel addict. I own all seasons of both shows, a combined 12 seasons, on dvd. And Eliza Dushku, who played Faith on both shows, is awesome! I loved her on Tru Calling and hated FOX for taking it away...and half way through it's second season!! Joss + Eliza = MAGIC. And the premise of the show is equally as cool. People who are given personalities, etc for a certain mission, and then have them wiped clean afterwards, and do this over and over again is cool. And Dushku's character....starts to retain personality traits...which is a no-no...YAY!! So excited!

Also on my radar of possible LOVE-IT shows in 2009: Harpers Island, cool premise, a whole wedding party trapped on an island and someone is picking them off...but who? And why? A mystery...how mysterious...already dying to see it! And there's Merlin (uhhh it's subject matter should be clear), Lie to Me (about basically a human polygraph machine) and The Listener (a mind-reader who solves crimes) which all sound intrigueing.

And for my list of STOP now, they will FOR SURE be cancelled? Crusoe (we know how it ends!), Privileged (rich spoiled kids on TV? Taken!), Knight Rider (and to it's star Justin Bruening I am SO sorry, I LOVED you on All My Children, but to remake THIS show...not a cool idea...oohhh a talking car...big deal!), Life On Mars (yawnnnnn....who wants to go back to 1973?! More crimes to solve NOW...please say you didn't even bother like me...and I LOVE tv shows!), Hole In The Wall (SO LAME...and I liked Wipeout and How to Survive a Japanese game show...so that shows you how lame this IS!), Kath & Kim, Gary Unmarried, Worst Week and Momma's Boys (which hasn't even premiered yet...the sitcom...sadly has DIED in the last few years...Jay Mohr, go back to Ghost Whisperer, they left you alive and on a sabbatical, you can SO come back! Jamie Kennedy just is NOT working!). Stylista and Easy Money...I have heard squat about you, neither good NOR bad...this is never a good sign! All publicity is good publicity...remember?! True Blood, you are just trying to capatalize on the former success of Angel and the new success of the Twilight series. You can't...I have heard HOKEY and True Blood in the same sentence...you don't deserve to live...heh funny! And two other shows, yet to premiere that I think will fail: The Philanthropist (a rich guy decides to do good in the world...it will fail because the world is that crappy, that it is uncool to be that good a good guy...we need faults in our good guys...hello House pill pops, Monk is OCD, etc!!) and The Cleveland Show ( a spin-off of Family Guy...I HATE F.G., but it was at least original...this is ridiculous and doesn't have a football head baby trying to take ober the world! ). So I think these are the shows you need to bid "adieu" to now...before you get attached like I did with Moonlight...*sniffles*...it SO deserved another season...they take my shows ALL the bloody time...I will save that rant for another post.

So share with me, your top picks of the season, and tell me whether you agree with my lists! Can't wait to hear if someone actually is watching Knight Rider!! :P

Rychelle! Do you OWN a tv?! You have HEARD of Buffy and Angel right?? Our friendship hinges on this (j/k)...but you have right??!

I haven't heard of most of these either...so I didn't even really read the post. I saw Pushing Daisies on the list and that made me happy :)

The only one I'm watching on that list is Fringe, and it didn't record last night, so I'm not happy.

I think Dirty Sexy Money has the best cast on TV. Have you seen the preview for the next episode? www.youtube.com/watch?v=wairHSzUof8&eurl=

I haven't even heard of Fringe! I love LOST though so maybe I'll have to check it out. I love TiVo but there's not a ton of time to watch tv over here with blogging and all. I just started Arrested Development and it is hilarious though. I can't believe it got cancelled!

I'm kinda out of the loop though on a bunch of tv shows.

Will I be shunned if I mention that I don't like House or Gray's Anatomy? I think they're embarrassingly bad. I also feel the same way about all the CSI shows.

Noooo! CSI is the best...the original...don't know how it will be when Grissom leaves! *sobs*

HOUSE is SO good though! Don't watch Grey's...not me cup of tea...no Ugly Betty either...yech. Love America though!

Anon - ooohh thanks for the clip. Can't wait! And Carmelita is COMING back, I read it!! So funny!
