We did our typical New Year's Eve traditions. We bought lots of feast food, a lot of which Sandy and I made, the night before. Our special pickle roll-ups and dill dip in a bread bowl, etc. We also got a shrimp ring, a veggie platter, made a cheese and cracker platter with also a cheese log and a cheese dip. We baked perogies, cream cheese wontons, chicken quesadillas and mini tacos. And cooked Dad mini turkey polskas.
We started off late though. My Dad was feeling sick so he actually took a nap. And my Mom was so tired from work, we let her go take a nap too. Katie was off getting ready with Gina, they were belly dancing in two places, so Katie was not part of our festivities. So it was me and Sam and normally we'd be all eating and watching movies, as we do movie marathons as part of our tradition, but nope, so Sam and I watched the pilot episode of Fringe together. I fell asleep after a half hour...does anyone else do that when they get feel cold even in their bones? I do, I fell asleep like BAM. Woke up a few minutes before the pilot ended. At quarter to 8 we woke up Mom and Dad got up and we started to bake the frozen foods. We decided to watch Enemy of the State. With pauses for bathroom breaks and more food, we finished it at 11:30pm.
We watched the Dick Clark show, it was so good to see him, but hard to see him have so much difficulty too. He was so full of energy. But happy to see him!! Sandy made 4 mini glasses of chocolate milk and my Dad showed up again as the new ball dropped. We toasted and hugged and Maxie gave kisses out to all. My Mom took a bath and then went to bed, and Sam and Dad went to bed immediately, the party stinkers!! Man, alone on New Year's Eve...sucks. So I let my OCD take control after watching a VH1 top videos of 2009 and found I liked some bands, plus from a cd my friend Hannah made, so I was downloading and organizing music until...ohhh I was BAD, until 8am!! I KNOW!! So stupid! Then I took my pills and started I, Robot, which was to be part of our marathon, a Will Smith one, but fell asleep and fast.
While I was OCD'ing, I watched Twilight Zones. I do find them fascinating!! Some are depressing, I hate those, but some are so cool! I saw a very young Dennis Hopper, and William Shatner and just all sorts of people who are old or ... well, dead now. LOL. I am watching more right now as I type, and recorded 8 hours of them while I slept. FUN! They also do these marathons on my birthday, well it is for Independence Day, but SAME day!! :) I am SO hoping I taped the one I have always wanted to see, where mannequins come to life at night, I always miss it!! Argh!
Happy New Year All! May 2010 be better for us all!
4 meaningful meanderings:
Wait, WHAT ARE YOUR PICKLE ROLL UPS?!?!?!? Are they pickles in cream cheese in a roll?!??????
Well, despite everyone being too tired to do much, it sounds like you did enjoy your new year celebrations. :)
Happy new year, hope 2010 is a good one for you!
It's funny, I yawn and get SO tired when I'm cold.
Everyone makes fun of me, saying you're not supposed to get tired in cold, only warm.
Glad I'm not the only one.
I am drooling over the food. I wish I lived near you so I could invite myself over to eat. hehe.
Sounds like a fun time.
