Flashback Movies 6

More trailers for you to chew on as you ponder, am I really this old? KIDDING! These are to flash you back to some of the unique movies you may have also enjoyed years ago. Or to make you WANT to go rent these movies!

Overboard (Goldie and Kurt together, really fun and cruel at the same time)

License to Drive (the Corey's team up again!)

Mannequin (Yes I loved this, we rented it so many times on tape they should have given it to us!)

Masters of the Universe (Shoosh okay. We liked this. Has the Dulph as He-Man and also stars a young Courtney Cox-Arquette)

Silver Bullet (VERY young Corey Haim movie, based on Stephen King's novel. Really fun)

Sneakers (great movie, I HIGHLY recommend it!! Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier, River Phoenix, Dan Akroyd and David Strathairn rock this movie!!)

Lazy Sunday

This is how I feel today. SO lethargic and just like a great day to do nothing at all. This is me...except for the little male peepee and the hair that obviously needs to be trimmed from it. OY! That is a drip mess waiting to happen. But the pic was so cute!!

We had my favorite meal today, the full chicken dinner including green bean casserole, stuffing and mashed potatoes. The only thing that would have made it better? REAL mashed potatoes, instead of the Ore-Ida frozen kind. Real potatoes are SO much better!!

I figure maybe until people are stuck more in the house due to the cold, thus blogging more, I will reserve longer blogs for weekdays. True, I could likely change my mind if I get a juicy post, one I need out of my head. But I figure it is Sunday, and I only saw 8 posts since I checked at like 5am, so hardly anyone will even see THIS until Monday.

I need to make a grocery list for tomorrow, and I am watching the first season of Castle with Sam. I think I have her addicted! Hehe!

Film Slice

I love old movies, old Hollywood actors, I just love it all. And I have my favorite actors and movies. Just a few are Bing Crosby, Gene Kelly, Abbott & Costello, Debbie Reynolds, Katherine Hepburn, and so many more. And one I haven't mentioned, is Cary Grant. I love Cary Grant, and I love so many of his films. Father Goose, Monkey Business, Mr. Blanding's Builds His Dream House, The Bishop 's Wife, Bringing Up Baby, etc. But one of my favorites of all time is Arsenic and Old Lace. He is simply genius in it, as he is in most of my favorite movies starring him. But this one is perfect for Halloween time. And it is Cary Grant people, so this movie is viewable even by the most scaredy cats out there! It is HILARIOUS!! I think comedy was Cary's forte!

This is an 8 minute clip from Arsenic and Old Lace, I hope you watch it, it is so fun, this movie. He just stops by his Aunts' home to let them know he has been married and finds out his family is a little bit...crazy. And the skeletons in their closet, well, let's just say, they are running out of room. And Mortimer (Grant) tries to "fix" things poor fella!

Flashback Movies 5

These trailers really bring back good memories for me. Makes me remember all sorts of movies I have not seen in years and that I now want badly. Looking back can be a good thing, and these movie trailers prove it, so have a good time, it's just trailers, you have the time!! Enjoy the memories or enjoy learning about some great movies you MUST see!

The Monster Squad (love this! We still watch it!)

Stand By Me (full of famous faces, including a chubby Jerry O'Connell and River Phoenix...sniff)

Short Circuit (Ally Sheedy and Steve Gutenberg star, but the robot is the real star!)

Teen Wolf (Michael J. Fox made this good)

The Last Starfighter (It was a movie we were shown I swear forever, some of it used to scare us when we were little, but then it just became a beloved movie, full of memories!)

That was Awful Tarantino!!

Man, I wanted an improved evening of Horror movies and was SADLY disappointed. This movie Hush, was an English movie, but was supposed to be filled with twists and turns and be very Alfred Hitchcock-ish. I LOVE The Birds, and Psycho, etc. so I was very excited about watching this one. A couple are on the road and get behind a truck when they spot a woman in a cage screaming. The boyfriend doesn't want to follow, so when they are at a rest-stop, the girlfriend is furious, and then she disappears. And so he must go after her. Sounds intrigueing, but it wasn't!! It was SO slow and boring, I didn't end up caring. If this had wanted to be one of those movies where the goos guys DIE at the end, I wouldn't have minded. It was that crappy.

So I go to the Kurt Russel movie Deathproof...things COULD get worse. I hated every aspect of it! It has lines going through it and spots, to make it look like it was filmed in the late 60's, early 70's and you are watching it at a Drive-In or something. But the coloring was all old looking too, it annoyed the crap out of me. And everyone is dressed like it is 1970, but then things pop up like cell phines, Ipods, Red Bull and Lindsay Lohan. So I started to worry, not that it was a crappy movie, that is SO not my fault, but I worried, was I a film snob? But no I don't think so. I love old movies, Marilyn Monroe, Cary Grant, etc. I find their film technique and technicolor to be just fine. And I don't mind black and white movies, so it was just THIS movie and it's ancient special color technique. I love everything from Arsenic & Old Lace (SUCH a good Carey Grant movie!) to G.I. Joe, so I am so not a film snob, so it was this trash. Yuck. I HAD to finish it, only because I was hoping the last set of women killed Kurt, because he was a psychotic weirdo and killed poor Rose McGowan and her friends in such a violent way. So the one good thing about this trash...er, movie...was that the girls kick his butt and kill HIM. What a waste of an evening and MONEY!

Did you guys watch the video Shauna had on her blog, Just So? It was called You Are My Masterpiece/God's Chisel. The first 7 minutes amused the heck out of me, but once it turned to 7 minutes, I started to cry. Not sobs or anything like that, but slow tears falling down my face, holding to my chin for a moment, before falling to my shirt. Even though I can't see myself as any masterpiece, hearing it said in such a way, truly affected me. I ended up looking for more info on these guys and found a few more of their videos on Youtube, which I will no doubt share soon. I also found their website, where you can view other skits they have done. They can be hilarious, but also very poignant. Their so called skits, touched something in me, I can't even describe it. One of their skits is called The Mourning Booth, and it blew me away. It was expressing some of what I TRY to express, but in a relatable way. I can be very discombobulated when I am upset and can ramble, and I want to get what I am feeling through to my readers and to myself, but I sometimes think I just muck it all up. But this "skit" expressed it so perfectly. I am in the valley, and though you may think you can get me out of it, you can't. What you can do is just be there for me, be a friend, and listen if I need to talk. I found these two guys to be amazing, I spent 2 hours on their website as the majority of their skits is only available to view or purchase their. I was hooked. And it felt like I was meant to have found them and hear their take on things. This one skit can relate to loss of any kind, deaths, loss of a dream, etc. So I hope you will watch The Mourning Booth.

I Flit like a Buterfly...from Topic to Topic!!

Today was just a typical Monday. I did the grocery shopping, the whole time worried about being on budget. I have a budget every week, but Sandy was all stressing it, which turns out, stresses me for real and I was worried the whole time, so I was putting things back that I think we needed but could do without until next week. She should just NOT do that to me before I am leaving to shop. NOT the best time and then when I get back? You only get me one package of my juice?!! Well yeah Sam, you made me all worried about staying on budget so you don't get everything you want, and it is not like you NEED these juice boxes, you like them!! Man, I love when I get comments on what I buy! What you didn't buy green beans and celery today? No Kate I bought them for you 3 weeks ago and had to throw them away last night and they were never touched. So no I am not going to re-buy things you let go bad, it is a waste of money. Of course I end up having to buy one for her at least but still threw some away so it is frustrating. I get what they want, they don't eat it and it could have bought something someone else would have eaten, or I don't get what they want and they complain. The grocery shopper's life is not an easy one! :)

When I got home, Sam and I made sandwiches for dinner but wrapped them all up. Katie was at her Zoomba excercise class and then teaching bellydance lessons. Dad was cleaning up from working on putting up trim in the kitchen and my Mom was taking a short nap, as working while being in pain is exhausting her. Plus Sam and I still had our excercising to do. So we got through most of the mile walking in place when Sandy felt sick so she sat it out and I finished and then did the toning. I hopped in the shower and then went back downstairs to join Sam and Mom for two epsiodes of NCIS. Ziva was mean and invited everyone to a dinner she cooked and Tony was like the only one she didn't invite!! Yes I have seen it before, but SO?!! Poor Tony! I love Tony, all his movie referneces and his charm. Michael Wetherly is so good in this role! It fits him like a glove. When the role was being cast, something happened and Michael Wetherly did not make auditions or something, so he asked the director/creator (one of those) if he could stop by his house and join him and his family for dinner so the guy was like, okay and as soon as they had dinner, he knew he had found his Tony!! I love that! Yes I do know such interesting trivia. LOL!

I have decided to post my two favorite dances so far from this season of SYTYCD. I have not had that many WOW's like I had last season, but these two, both contemporary I found to be amazing! Oh you have the time you only have to watch the actual dances which are 2 minutes TOPS!! Go on now!!

Jonathon and Carla

Kayla and Kupono

I'd have to say my favorites, people who are still there, would be for the girls, Kayla and Janette. And for the guys I love Evan and...yeah that's it. There are some real talented ones left but the other guys I liked are gone!! Philip and Kupono!! I am mad Randi Caitlin are gone too. Jason I am not sure about, and Ade and Brandon just seem interchangeable. It's not like Twitch and Joshua, where they were SO different in every way. They just don't impress me that much. So I'd like Evan or Kayla to win I think. Kayla was not a fave, but she kept being beaten down every week, having to perform and she was doing so good, it was like HEY now, and she does have loely lines, and all that jazz. So since Randi and Caitlin are gone, for girls, I'd most love Kayla to win. But overall? Evan has had my heart since the try-outs! He is Gene Kelly baby!!post signature

The Amazing Diving Doggy!!

Okay this earns it's own separate post. Max's adventures with the pool this year. Every year we try and bring Max in the pool, and last year he even finally seemed to enjoy it. But a year goes by and he forgets, so he was leary again.

But as we swam one day and were splashing about, he would start running around the whole pool, barking and trying to "catch" the splashes of water with his mouth. We would start splashing water AT him and instead of running away like the years before he tried to bite the water, and started crying. He looked like he wanted IN! My Dad kept going up to him but he would back away. Dad dragged him in but it didn't seem good enough, so we put him out and splashed and yelled Max jump , because that is what he actually seemed to WANT, he kept getting close to the edge, his muscles would bunch but he would lose courage. So we jumped up and down splashing for 20 minutes and still, not brave enough to jump in. But he started using US to GET in. I flattened my back close to the ledge and
he walked on my back and then JUMPED in!! He loved it! He did it over and over!

When Kate got down, the first time she went swimming we planned on showing her what we had told her about and they were calling him to jump by himself, and he DID, he was so excited Katie was there, because he hadn't seen her in 5 days, he jumped straight TO her! He wouldn't do it again, but he used us, even when NOT prepared to be his launch pad. He ran up to Dad jumped on his shoulder and dove in over and over, the girls helping him find the step to get out. He would shake himself, I'd splash and bam back in again. He does have one bad habit. He bites the water as he swims AND has his mouth open to swallow as he dives in, he is a nut ball. He likes to drink the pool water. Oy, Max. And he loves when Mom and Dad decide he has had enough or we can tell he is now doing it just to please us, and they take him in a giant towel and dry him off sitting on a lounger inthe sun. He soaks it up, literally.

The last few days of the trip he got braver and braver. He would crawl on dad's back, now with a tee on because Max's nails scratch bad, and let himself be "ferried" to the other side. He would step off and run back to the other side to do it again. On another day he decided no one was close enough to the ledge so he jumped onto shoulders from a distance. Then he decided he did not care if there was someone willing to be his diving board, if he saw a HEAD, yeah a HEAD, he jumped ON your head and used you to dive in. Let me tell you THAT hurt, especially after my accident which will is in part 3 of my Disney Trip. Then he leapfrogged from the cement onto Dad's waiting back and then into the pool!! Then he leapfrogged onto Sandy, then leaped onto Dad then dove into the pool the next day! He was SO happy, the look of joy on his face every day he swam in the pool was priceless. His pool adventures are one of my favorite parts of the WHOLE vacation. On the last day before Dad and Kate left to drive him home...his LAST swim...yes I am sad...he did the unimaginable. He began diving in all by himself!! Over and over! We would hit the water near the steps and he would swim there...if he was finished with that swim. I splashed the most so he dove to me a LOT during the vacation, and the visual of his fave and body hurtling to me through the air was SO much fun and so cool (and don't worry animal lovers, Max has never been allowed outside, near the pool, alone. Even when he was terrified of water, he was only out there if someone else was, that goes quadruple now!LOL). It was amazing seeing him vault into the pool from the ledge all by himself, no help, his tongue hanging out of the side of his mouth as he grinned!! Max IS the Amazing Diving Doggie!!!
