Ugh and Planning

Okay a quick note about yesterdays post. The thing is I don't WANT to go private. If I had gone private when these relatives first tried to make me, I would never have found a bunch of the people I am good friends with. I have found my friends gradually through my blog's life, and if I did what others wanted, there would be no Yaya's in my life. No Lee's. No Izzy's. No Tori's. And many others. I like my blog being public because that is how you find new readers and by getting new readers, you make new friends. And that is part of what I love about having a blog. That I can make friends. I can't imagine not being able to make a new friend the way I made friends with Lee of Perpetual Burn! I love that girl (*hugs* for Lee), she makes me laugh and I email when I am having trouble with html stuff and when I am worried about her, etc. Why would I want to limit myself to finding more people like that?!

And while my family could see things from "their" point of view, at one point, I have respected their privacy by agreeing not to talk about stufftheir family here where anyone can read about them. Like Yaya said, they just need to get over themselves. And stop harassing me.

Anyways, on to less drama filled stuff. Today I did the grocery shopping, picked up the stuff for Sandy's birthday breakfast. Essentially they are Egg MCMuffins, but they are changed to relate to our last name...which I don't post HERE. LOL! Today it really felt like everything in the store was just too pricey! I put things back that we need, like crackers, I figure I will get them next week, once all birthdays are over. Just to make the breakfast portion of her birthday was like $35...okay part of that IS because she wants 24 made, so yeah, lol, a little excessive but she likes to enjoy them for a few days, so it makes sense. I also finally got my Mom to see the NCIS epsiode SWAK. It is one of my all time favorite episodes! And one of the last with "Kate Todd", plus it really revolves around "Tony" who I adore! LOVE Michael Weatherly. Sam's neck was killing her, so I excercised alone tonight, which was not as fun. Then the carpet disgusted me so much, I vacummed down stairs. Well, part of it, the formal living room is still full of kitchen stuff. We still need to paint, put up the molding, etc and then move the rest of the furniture back. Oh and add new photo hooks so our pictures and calendars can go back up!

I need to order some stuff online tonight, for the birthday girl and do some shopping tommorrow, the final day before her birthday!! Look at her wasn't she adorable?!! That is my Grandma holding Sam, I love this picture. She still looks the same too, same smile and everything! Isn't my Sammie gorgeous? She will probably hit me and be all embarassed but she is beautiful, see?!

And I want her to have a wonderful birthday. And I know it sucks that our parents are both working on her birthday until 5pm, but I am so there for anything she wants to do! Bowling, pottery painting, anything. I want her to have a great day! She helped make mine great and I want to do the same for my baby sister! She deserves it! And her movie is on the 15th at like 12:01 am, Harry POTTER. She is a HUGE fan!!

I can see your point about why you don't want to go private, and I agree! I've made priceless relationships through blogging.

But, with that sometimes comes a price. While you may not have invited their inlaws to read, the very fact that your blog is public is an invitation. To anyone.

I've found out that people are work that I didn't know were reading, were reading, and so now I'm more cautious about what I write about work, even if it has nothing to do with clients.

Blogging can be a really tough balance! Maybe you can do a private blog too, where you can vent and get your frustrations out, and then have this one for the other stuff! :)

That is the purpose of my Facebook. I have that set to absolutely private. Only friends can view my page. Not even friends of friends do I have enabled, to keep it THAT completely secure and private. And I only friend people I trust, none of that friend everyone so I can say I have 5000 friends. Everyone is family or friends in some way.

Hey, with the time difference and the fact the nearest cinema to us only does an evening showing (and it's too far to go to any other cinema) we'll be watching the new Harry Potter movie at about the same time. ;)

Hope everything goes to plan for Sam's birthday tomorrow. :)

Don't go private! You need an outlet and it's more fun to be public and meeting new people!

I love making friends through blogging! There's no reason for you to have to go private. that's just boring. nobody reads what you write or gives you support. Maybe if you change your blog address they wouldn't be able to read it?

If it helps I have two blogs - one private and one public?

Glad you had a good birthday. :)

The whole private vs. public thing is a toughy. Only you know what is best for your situation.

Great birthday pictures!

I understand what you mean. The whole reason my blog is still public is because I like meeting new people.

Very good point, I wouldn't want to go public either or I wouldn't have found you either :)

The need for some semblance of privacy.... hence the reason why I write under a pseudonym and why I didn't have an email attached to my blog for the longest time. In fact, the email attached to it now isn't one I check regularly (that's gonna change soon...it's getting clicked right back OFF). No real names are used in my entries...ever...especially coupled with a picture of the person. You never know who's reading. I like to make to friends as much as the next person, but there are too many weirdos out there. .oO(well that and an ex-husband who could be released from prison at anytime).
