Holy Rain!!

Seriously this was TODAY here in Connecticut! And I should know I was out IN it today and came back looking like a drowned rat. I would have taken a picture, but I was wracked with shivers. The temperature was a balmy 69, which would have felt wonderful if it was a sunny day, but it was pouring, which isn't even a strong enough word to describe how hard and fast the rain was coming down.

I went to Target, WITH an umbrella, and as I left, the rain was coming down so hard, the umbrella was useless, it was also raining almost sideways. I only had 3 bags and 2 packages of paper towels and was parked close, but by the time I got it into the trunk and myself into the car I was soaked. I ordered food to go from the Polish place. It is so funny, the lady ended up knowing who I was from the order! And since she likes us she made a fresh batch of her cucumber salad do we could have it! Awww! I had 20 minutes so I decided I would run into Walmart. So I took Lazy Lane down and I regret that so much. I had no idea that Lazy Lane turns into a river in rain like this. I was terrified that the engine would flood, the water was spurting like waves under the car! When I got there I decided I couldn't get much wetter and I was going to run, so I left the umbrella behind. What a mistake. The rain was even harder. I was in the store a matter of minutes and I was shivering and when I got out I swear it looked even heavier. All these people were standing under the arch, and I had to sigh and steel myself to run back to my car. I was squishing by this point and still had to get the food.

For the first time it felt cold inside Liz's Quick Gourmet, so it was torturous as I waited to pay. The sweet old man though told me to run out to my car and leave the door open and he walked the fod out to me! I LOVE these people, they are so sweet!! Last week, when it was HOT, he brought a tiny cup of his cold Borcsht soup for us to try, he makes it you see. And I even tried it, even though it is purple, and it wasn't horrible I have to say. He said it would be even better a day later and he eats bowls of it on hot days to cool down. While we were there he had 2 bowls and 2 sodas. I don't imagine it was selling today though. They said almost all business had been to-go orders. It;s because it was like a flood falling from the sky!

The food was so delicious though. I changed into a new shirt to get warmer, but didn't want to put a whole new outfit on, since I had to have my hair dyed so that was another new outfit! But I was so wet, that my bra soaked through that shirt too and so I have been chilly all night. What a day!!

I love my hair when it is freshly colored, it just feels so good!

So often I have an umbrella and find that my pants are soaking from the knees down. I also hate it when the wind blows and turns your umbrella inside out. Arrrg.

I don't bother with an umbrella. Those things don't keep you properly dry if it does more than drizzle anyway, and if the wind picks up then you'll spend more time trying to keep the umbrella in the right way than anything else.

Hope you don't end up sick after getting that wet. *Hugs*

I sat inside a restaurant for about an hour and a half because it was raining SO hard. Then when I went out to my car, the parking lot/streets/everywhere was flooded. Super fun.

I think the word you were looking for is deluge.

I love rain unless it's cold. Me no likey cold rain. I can even handle the deluge (minus an umbrella) if it's warm enough. It's not as though I'm going to melt.

LOL@ the lady knowing who the order was for due to the items made. I used to go to a restaurant like that.

That cucumber salad sounds really good to me for some reason, and i don't even like cucumber salad!
I'm sorry it was raining so hard, but I'm kind of jealous.
It's too hot here. I would LOVE a flood from the sky!
