ZZZ in a Movie!?! and Stephen

I went and saw Pelham 123 today, but we were supposed to go to a late show and instead went to an earlier show and when I feel at all tired and go to a movie, even one that is full of action, etc?? Yeah I struggle to stay awake. I started out okay, the first 35 minutes, I was wide awake and then I started to yawn and the last hour of the movie was one big struggle to stay awake. I was slapping myself in the face, seriously you guys, my Mom was poking me when I would start to go still for more than a minute. I basically know the end of the movie but was not able to realy enjoy it or process it, so I have NO idea if I liked it or not. I liked up to where I was before I started nodding off but then...no idea how I feel about that. So after Mom went with me to run my errands, so that I didn't have to drive. And what started happening of course AFTER? I start waking up which always happens AFTER I want it to! Went to the video store and though I had all my videos and Mom was waiting, the poor chick inside had been trying to temporarily lock up to run next door to pee, and she goes up to me and is like, are you in a hurry?? She tried to leave (Gamestop is still open and is connected so I wasn't alone) as I went in and explained to me that the stores bathroom was broken, and I was fine with her running next door but some impatient people who arrived after me said they wouldn't wait, so when she asked me finally if I was in a hurry, I was like GO, it's fine. I mean how long might she have been holding it for? She was so happy when she got back and thanked me, but I would hope other people would have helped her out, but she mentioned she had been trying for ahile and it kept getting busy. Then we went to Walmart and went home and excercised. We all took showers and then Mom and I watched 2 NCIS's before heading off to bed.

Sandy and I watched the first half of the remake of The Shining tonight. I love the remake, it is so much better than the original. Now, I KNOW, I know, it was Jack Nicholson and he did the whole face in the doorway brilliantly. But truth be told, the movie doesn't make that much sense. So much is left out, that the little kid talking to his finger doesn't make that much sense, and Jack...as Jack Torrance, going so stir crazy that he goes after his family with an axe?? Never quite made much sense either. And no wonder, once you have either watched the remake or read the book! So much that is crucial information is left out! Sure it makes it a much longer movie, this one being 4 and 1/2 hours, but it is so much more enjoyable, when you get all the nuances and such. Stephen King didn't like the original!! He said they butchered it, which is why Stephen King not only executive produced this remake, but he wrote the teleplay.

And you may think, Steven Webber as a guy who goes evil? The guy from Wings? Oh yeah, he is good too! Rebecca DeMornay plays his wife...Wendy, LOL. And Courtland Mead as Danny, the boy gifted with the Shining, which is way more explained!! You'd recognize the kid, he has these super fat chipmunk cheeks, which are low down so I don't find him a cute kid, but he is good as Danny. And wait until Sandy sees the second half (this is her first viewing), it gets better and even more detailed in Jack's descent into madness!! And you experience more and more the extent of the Shining, and you kind of thank goodness Danny was gifted with this half gift/half curse, as it proves quite helpful at some points!! Seriously if you have only experienced the original, rent this. If you have only read the book, rent this. If you have no experience with it at all, rent this. I love it, it is so detailed and good!! And Stephen King himself loves it and was said to have kept a careful eye on the reamke the entire shoot. He even does a cameo as Gage Creed (which is also the name of the lil boy in Pet Semetary) the band conductor! AND the mini-series/remake was also shot at the actual hotel that inspired King's story in the first place! Very cool. Stephen King was very hands-on for this project! So watch it, especially if you are a King fan!!

Now I am off to watch I'm A Celebrity... and the premiere episode of that new Jada Pinkett-Smith series, and I am starving and need noursihment!

I have to say, the original Shining is a classic. No one does it like Jack Nicholson.

I caught HawthoRNe last night. I think there is some real potential there. Will have a better feel for it on the next episode.

Sounds like you had an eventful day/night. Sorry that you got tired during the movie--but rest assured that it will be on video soon so you can have a re-do!!

Omg, I didn't even know they had an old version of the shinning, the first one sucked cow nipples.
I wanna watch it NOW.

I hate when that sleep thing happens. I'm one of those people that has no real sleeping pattern, and if I get forced to stay awake when sleepyness threatens then it could be AGES before I even feel slightly sleepy again.
