Cider Donuts and (OSMOND) Bees!!

I went to Rogers Orchard today, I was jones-ing for an Apple Cider donut fix. It's so pretty at both locations, beautiful fall colors everywhere, the smell of apples...and that's before you even go inside. Baskets of apples, every kind there is probably, along with all their apple products and other home made goodies. Cookies and pies and syrups and FUDGE, and various other candies and New England favorites.

Some even I have never gotten the lure of. Sticks of honey? Errr....no thanks. Maple candy...gross. I don't care what adorable shape it's in, acorns, leaves or even flowers, I don't like candy that was made from maple syrup...I don't much like real maple syrup. Give me Mrs. Buttersworth and I am happy.

Hey I love me some apples though. The best kind, according to this New Englander, are Gala, so yummy and pretty. And my cider donuts are heavenly happy in my belly, right now. I even put a dollar in the cash box they have with the big mchine of their own apple cider. The best apple cider. I looked into whether they delivered their doughnuts to other stated...nope. Probably they go bad in a box for a few days. Sorry guys. You'll have to visit Southington some day. The only problem with the cider though? It is in one of those LARGE dispensers, like the ones they have the lemonade in at Boston Markets (please tell me you have them out there), and the bees were ALL over it. There were bees right where you push your cup against, bees where the excess cider is supposed to go...they were everywhere!! And I HATE bees. I have been stung and it hurts like you can't believe!! And one followed me back into the open store...kinda like garage doors while open, and was touching my hand where I was holding my cup of cider and I was mentally freaking out. Don't HIT the bee, don't make it ANGRY!! And I am trying to walk further and further in and being so open, it keeps following me, brushing against my arm and hand...I was so worried! Finally I turned and walked and it went back to the cider holder. Of course I had payed for 2 cups so I had to go back there...it would have been wasting 50 cents!! Yes! I am cheap!! So I went back with my cup and while shaking as they swarmed close, I quickly filled my cup and took off for my car with my loot. One bag of un-sugared apple cider donuts (Sandy thinks it's healthier this way) and 2, yes TWO, bags of sugared cider donuts. Hey, I was the one who went over there, I WAS getting MY fave times 2. That makes a dozen doughnuts, cuz it is 6 to a bag. So I feel NO guilt...alright sure I think, go excercise as I eat a doughnut sometimes, but I shove it to the back of my mind. These doughnuts aren't around for long. No doughnuts in December!! Must cherish NOW.

Hey, Connecticut isn't exactly the epitomy of EXCITING places, so I have to find my jollies where I can. This isn't NY or California or even Utah, with national parks and what not. Little state, where the biggest thing is The MOHEGAN SUN, the casino owned by Native Americans of CT. And of course I have NEVER been there and never won $20 on the coin slots after losing $50. Nor have I ever had lunch at one of their amazing buffets located way past all the many mini casinos that stink of ciggarette smoke. Hello, reservation laws. So smoking allowed everywhere but the one non-smoking casion area...which still smells of smoke. NEVER! I know nothing about it. *rolls eyes* Okay like 2, 3 times at the most. Wasn't even my idea. Did you know you don't even get the coins spitting out of the machine anymore? You get tickets that you bring to a window to get your money. No sounds of change hitting metal...soooo sad!

So see, nothing all that big happens in CT. So when Rogers Orchard is open for it's season we get happy and excited and eat donuts. Rogers Orchard, the world. World this is Rogers Orchard, land of apple cider doughnuts and yummy oatmeal cookies.

Also, I went and saw "The Haunting of Molly Hartley" tonight. I liked it, would have LOVED it, but the ending wasn't to my preference. But it is NOT a horror, it's more of a thriller. Sure it has BAM, things jumping out at you, but no blood and guts, more psychological. I give it a 6 out of 10. My Mom liked it too, except for the end, Dad....sighing....gave it a 1....yeah thrillers, etc NOT his thang. He said he thought we were going to see the Changeling. Uh NO! Zero interest in that! I read about the real case, NO THANKS!! Mean horrid cops, locking upa woman in a loony bin cuz she knows "HEY that's NOT my kid!!". NO way will I see it. Angelina and CLint...so sorry but really? NO!
It gave a good commercial for a horror movie though, My Bloody Valentine 3D! Sure the thought of something jumping out at me scares me, but it sounds cool too. And the main REASON I MUST see it? Jensen Ackles is in it!! Hello, he plays Dean Winchester on Supernatural!! I would LOVE to marry Jensen and be Mrs. Wendy Ackles. I have been a fan forever!! When he played Eric Brady on Days, when he was Alec on Dark Angel, and now my Deany on Supernatural. LOVE that show, SO good!! He is SO hot!! MUST SEE IT!!

Oh and yes I voted at 6:30 am, not sure if I voted for the right person, I DO suck at the whole political knowledge thing!! But Obama is officially the elected new President. At least that means less taking our shows away for BLECH debates!!YAY!

Whenever someone says maple candy I think of that Friends episode where Ross eats boxes and boxes of it.

And if you haven't seen that episode, we can't be friends anymore.

This place sounds delightful!

And Amanda isn't even kidding about not being friends if you haven't seen that episode.

She stopped talking to me for days on end because I couldn't quote Friends episodes. And I work with her.

Again. We LOVE Supernatural and I decided that my new favorite apple (to replace granny smith) is... shoot. I think I forgot the name.... Pink Lady!! Yeah.. so good.

I LOVE gala apples, next would be pink ladies. The one thing I miss about being in WA is all the different varieties of apples.

Oh I LOVE Friends! I have all of the seasons... anyway, next time the bee comes at you I have heard that you blow at them instead of swatting at them. They think its the wind so they fly away without getting ticked!

Are you kidding about CT?! I was born and raised in CA. I've lived in UT. And CT is WAY better. It is stunning. It has history. It's my heaven. So don't go bad-mouthing CT again! :)

Galas are my favorite too.

Ooh, this post makes me home-, er, growing-up-sick. There was a place we went to, sounds like your place, called Atkins Farms. I loved going there. They had the best cheese danish. And apples. And fudge, and CIDER!!!

Me, I like maple sugar candy. I wish I could get it more often, too, because you just can't eat much at a time, and there are hardly any sweets I can say that about.

Have I mentioned I grew up in Massachusetts? I did. I miss the east.
